Fees for Psychiatrist Assessments and Therapy Sessions

We offer several different types of assessments and sessions in our Harley Street clinic, with a variety of experienced and professional psychiatrists, psychologists and counsellors.

We operate a bespoke service, built around your exact needs. This means that each type of appointment with each specialist may have a different fee depending on what’s required. These are some of the most common types of appointments we may offer to clients visiting our clinic for the first time:

1 hour initial psychiatric assessment

This assessment will be carried out by one of our experienced consultant psychiatrists. While no two appointments and no two problems are ever the same, these are quite common features of this assessment:

The doctor will discuss your history and symptoms, and try to gain an understanding of your expectations and goals for treatment.
Your psychiatrist will work towards a diagnosis, or possibly a confirmation of a previous diagnosis.
A treatment plan will be discussed and recommended. This may include a script, a referral to a specialist such as a clinical psychologist and/or further follow-up appointments.
1 hour refers to a “clinical hour” – this is an industry-standard convention for carrying out medical appointments, which includes approximately 40-45 minutes of face-to-face time with the practitioner. The remainder of the “hour” is used by the practitioner to carry out essential administration related to the appointment, including: consideration of issues raised, preparation of script or treatment plan, etc.

Whichever specific path your assessment takes, by the end of the appointment you should have a much clearer understanding of the best course of action to take.

1.5 hour initial psychiatric assessment

The 1.5 hour initial psychiatric assessment takes a similar path to the standard 1 hour assessment, but is used for several different purposes:

Complex conditions or multiple diagnoses. If there are several things to cover, then we may recommend an extended 1.5 hour assessment to ensure the doctor has enough time to conclude the assessment
ADD / ADHD Assessment – These specific assessments will focus on symptoms and treatments for ADD / ADHD and related issues.
ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) – This is a specific assessment aiming to provide a diagnosis and suitable treatment plan for ASD and related conditions.
You may also request a 1.5 hour appointment if you would simply like some extra time with the doctor. While the 1 hour assessment is enough in most cases, the extended assessment can allow you more time to discuss any additional concerns.

The remainder of the “1.5 hours” is used by the practitioner to carry out essential administration related to the appointment, including: consideration of issues raised, preparation of script or treatment plan, etc.

BOOK AN APPOINTMENT

When you book a specific time with the doctor or other practitioner, this means that the patient must be available 10-15 minutes before the appointed time, however the actual start time can be anywhere from 15 minutes early to some time later than noted in the diary. We make all reasonable efforts to keep appointments on schedule, however, due to the nature of our work, emergencies or clinical/technical issues mean that such changes in timing are inevitable on some occasions.
